From TCH Archive

Sir Morgan David MacDonald (born 14 November 2966) is a Wiltshirian Labour Party politician and member of the National Assembly, currently serving as Minister for Production and Industrial Strategy in the Sonya Inyo War Ministry. MacDonald previously held office as Junior Minister for Industry in 3020 and as Chief Secretary to the Treasury under Chancellor Alberto Siliotti.

MacDonald is a descendent from the Welsh Bedwyr Community, which settled in Doggerland in 2947. He spent much of his early life in the area which would become Lancastria, following their migration from North America in the 2990s. MacDonald left the community in 2985 to attend University in Washington, eventually studying at Pembroke University for a Masters Degree in Theology and Philosophy. MacDonald still identifies with his Welsh ancestry, still visiting Lancastria several times a year to visit family. MacDonald married his husband, Julian, and settled down in Newton, Wiltshire where he lived throughout the events that following towards the end of the 30th century. MacDonald lived in Newton throughout the Federation/C.E. war and the eventual migration of Federation refugees to the Wiltshirian plains. When Wiltshire formed into a country in 3009, MacDonald was automatically granted citizenship - alongside his five children.

Throughout the 3010s, MacDonald worked in a number of different corporate sectors. He worked with AlonTech as a financial advisor and eventually with the Shuriken Corporation as the Chief Executive of the Wiltshire Division. In 3020, he was elected to the Wiltshire National Assembly as a Labour Party member. He served as a backbencher during Mark Edwin's tenure as Prime Minister, eventually achieving the appointment as Chief Secretary to the Treasury. He held this position until Sonya Inyo was appointed Prime Minister. MacDonald was appointed to the cabinet in February 3021 as Minister for Production and Industrial Strategy following the resignation of Alan Kelly.

MacDonald identifies as a social democratic moderate. He is known to be the most moderate member of the Labour Party caucus, supporting Jake Simpson's reforms to take the party away from the far-left. He is a self-identified Christian, stating publicly that he supports capitalism and free-market solutions. He has received heavy criticism from members of the left-wing of his party in recent months for his denunciation of Mark Edwin during the October 3020 General Election.
