Audrick Hill became leader of the opposition on 15 January 3026 when his Republic party lost control of government. He was succeeded as prime minister by Patrick Rivers, who formed a minority Labour government. Audrick Hill confirmed that he would stay on as the republican leader in the Assembly, and thus as leader of the opposition, ready to return to government at the first given opportunity.
Hill's leadership of the Republic party was challenged shortly after the election.
Shadow cabinet
As per convention, Hill appointed his shadow cabinet to reflect the ministries of the incumbent government. His shadow cabinet was reshuffled from his last government cabinet, reflecting changes brought about by the 3026 general election. Hill did confirm that he would not appoint a shadow chancellor, given his support for the chancellery of Gavin Thompson.
