The perehitini is the head of government and prime minister of Lorikeet. The office is appointed by the Tฤhฤ as the person best placed to lead the Matahui - the Guardian Council. The word perehitini derives from the old Daokan word for president, in the literal sense; an individual that presides over a body. The perehitini is the first guardian of the state and first among equals of the other guardians that make up the Matahui.
The title is the official title of the office in the Basic Law, and the english translation of 'president', or the political equivalent of 'prime minister', are not appropriate substitutes.
The incumbent perehitini is Kenta Tamihere of Kaitiaki Ropu, who took office in December 3025. He leads a grand coalition of all parties, as per the instruction of the Tฤhฤ.
