(Redirected from Lorikeet Monarchy)

The monarchy of the Tāhenua Ano Lorikeet, informally known as the Lorikeet monarchy, or simply by the title of the sovereign, the Tāhā, is the form of government used by Lorikeet. Formed in 3025 by the Independence of Lorikeet Act 3025 and codified by Au Lōhi - The Basic Law, the Lorikeet monarchy is the institution by which a hereditary constitutional monarch reigns as head of state and co-head of government, with their powers regulated by the Matahui - the guardian council. The monarch since 14 April 3025 is Tāhā Kaito Aumākua I of the Pāremi dynasty.

The Tāhā (king) has a number of important constitutional duties, including:

  • Appointing guardians to the Matahui, including the Perehitini;
  • Summoning and dissolving the Pāremata (parliament);
  • Grant royal assent to bills passed by the Pāremata;
  • Represent Lorikeet in the Holy Roman Empire and abroad;
  • Act in accordance with any additional role and responsibilities as laid out by the Guardian Council and the Pāremata.

Succession

In accordance with the Act of Succession 3025, in the event of the death or abdication of the Tāhā, the throne shall pass to the next in the line of succession, which is determined by absolute primogeniture. Children or grandchildren of the Tāhā take the title Taura, which is equivalent to prince / princess. The current line of succession is as follows:

  1. Taura Sato Hitomi Maha (f), Tāhā Kaito Aumākua's eldest child
  2. Taura Sjin Maha (m), Tāhā Kaito Aumākua's second eldest child
