Antony Edmund I (4 June 2730 - 6 August 2804) was King of the Rock following the death of his brother, King Oberon. His reign was only three years and during his time on the throne he did little of note. Rockfield was coming out from the golden period, in which Rockfield was at its height of influence in Doggerland.
Antony Edmund was born as the second son to King Philip the Old, who reigned for 45 years. As the younger son, Anthony Edmund was never expected to assume the throne. His title, as the Lord Commander of the Royal Navy, when he turned 21, outlined the more militaristic role that his father envisioned for Antony Edmund. However, when Oberon (his elder brother) announced that he would not marry and would be a celibate, it quickly became apparent that Antony Edmund would succeed Oberon. The succession question was not a legal one (as Oberon's choices were his own). However, they were controversial within the Martell family and many questioned Oberon's mental fitness given the instability that such a decision would bring. Oberon, as a qualified priest of the Pontifical Church, wanted to abdicate the throne and all of his inheritance. However, he was convinced not to by his father. His father was unable to convince Oberon to take a wife or have children. As such, Antony Edmund succeeded to the throne upon Oberon's death in 2801.
Oberon's death in 2801 left him canonized by the Pontifical Church and left Antony Edmund to ascend to the throne at the age of 71. His old age is mostly attributed to his father's long reign.
