The Duke of Mountbatten was appointed Prime Minister of the Balancín Kingdoms on 1 January 3024 by King Maximilian II. Mountbatten was the second Prime Minister of the Balancín Kingdoms, having succeeded the Lady De Leon. Having only previously served as the Lord High Steward, Mountbatten's experience was primarily drawn from his governance of the Duchy of Mountbatten. He had been the Duke for 54 years by the time he had been appointed Prime Minister and so was able to bring that experience to the new national government. In addition, Mountbatten had served in post as head of the Maekar military force during the 3021 War of the Balancín Succession as well as the 3023-24 Doggerland Crusade. He was Prime Minister throughout the entire life of the Partial Parliament of 3024, supporting measures such as the national ban on political organisation and the Rent Tax.
