Christina De Leon

From TCH Archive

Christina De Leon (born 16 July 2972) is a Balancín politician and stateswoman who served as the first Prime Minister of the Balancín Kingdoms and Lord Keeper of the Privy Seal from 3023 until early 3024. Prior to her appointment as Prime Minister, De Leon was Lord Mayor of Rockfield. She retired from Balancín politics in the New Year of 3024.

Born during the reign of King Philip III, De Leon was a low born third daughter. Her father, Luis, was a carpenter and De Leon was raised in the heart of Belemadena. At a young age, she attended the Pembroke School of Government, a division of Pembroke University, and set her mind to studying there. Raised in the Pontifical tradition, De Leon opposed the reformation of the United Federation of Planets as a teenager and debated in public competitions in favour of the constitutional monarchy. In one (now internet famous) clip, De Leon argued against democracy as "the messiest form of government".

De Leon applied but was rejected from Pembroke University, which shook her confidence in herself for a time. After that, she did not attend any other university, instead opting to stay in Belemadena and work as an office clark for the local Doctor. It was in this role that she came to learn that her cousin, Jose De Leon, was standing as a political candidate in the neighboring Bonitana under the banner of the Nationalist Bolshevik Party. De Leon became embrassed that the political association was with such radical left-wing views, leading to her passion for politics to reignite.

While attending a political rally, De Leon met her future husband, Marcos, where they had an immediate connection. Marcos and Christina married, eventually going on to have two children: Maria and Nancy.

In 3022, De Leon stood for the position of Mayor of Rockfield under the banner of the Christian Alliance Party, advocating against abortion, against political alliance with the corporatist Doggerlands Covalence Mechanism (DCM), and in favour of the monarchy - a view that she had held for her entire political life. She won, defeating incumbent Socialist Mayor Tirto, becoming the first female non-royal governmental leader in Rockfield's history.

In late 3022, De Leon's husband was assassinated during a Scientific Inquisition (SI) attack on pro-church Wiltshirian politicians. In 3023, she came out in support of King Maximilian the Crusader's declaration of independence and was eventually chosen to hold the position of Prime Minister of the Balancín Kingdoms. Her retirement led to the appointment of The Lord Maekar as Prime Minister.
