Cabinet Office Briefing Rooms (COBR)

From TCH Archive

The Cabinet Office Briefing Rooms (COBR) are meeting rooms in the Cabinet Office in Wiltshire. These rooms are used for committees which co-ordinate the actions of government bodies in response to national or regional crisis, or during overseas events with major implications for Wiltshire. It is popularly referred to as COBRA.

The COBR was established under the Civil Contingencies Act of 3014 and is usually chaired by the Home Minister. However, it does not operate out of the Home Office. Instead, COBR is a division of the Cabinet Office at Terrace Street.
