The Prime Minister of Wiltshire (informally abbreviated to PM) is the head of the government of Wiltshire of the Fourth Wiltshire Republic. The office is currently held by Liberal Conservative Prime Minister Audrick Hill. Hill previously served as Prime Minister in early 3019, and was appointed by Interim President Gaius Selan following Wiltshirian Independence in January 3020.
The office of Prime Minister was established in 3009 when the cities of Wiltshire and Walkerton unified into the Federal Republic. Jaresh Inyo served as the first, interim, Prime Minister until the first general election in September 3009. The office has both executive and legislative powers. Traditionally, the Prime Minister is the leader of the political party that can command a majority of the Wiltshire Assembly.
In March 3019, the Federal Republic was dissolved in favour of the Provincial style of the Novanite Federation. This resulted in the Office of Prime Minister being replaced with the Office of the Director of the Wiltshire. However, this changed back to Prime Minister when Wiltshire declared its independence from the Novanite Federation in the September Mutiny.
The Prime Minister has large, wide reaching, powers over the legislation of the nation. In addition, the Prime Minister can appoint and dismiss members of the Cabinet at their own will. However, the Prime Minister must report to the Wiltshire Assembly and President of Wiltshire and can be dismissed by the President at any time.
A Prime Minister is appointed by the President, however, the Assembly can vote no confidence in the Prime Minister's Government, this would leave the President in the position to either appoint a new Prime Minister or to re-gain the support of the Assembly.
