The Act of Settlement, or formally An Act for the further Limitation of the Crown and better securing the Rights and Liberties of the Subject, is the constitutional and legal framework for the Wiltshirian Commonwealth. It is notable for its elimination of the principle of parliamentary supremacy, having placed sovereignty into the monarch, the governor-general of Wiltshire.

Provision 1: The governor-general

  1. The governor-general of Wiltshire is the embodiment of the state and is charged with the advancement of the commonwealth of the people of Wiltshire;
  2. The governor-general is to be considered the head of state, in international terms.
  3. The governor-general is charged with the task of forming and overseeing the government of Wiltshire, including the appointment of the prime minister, and other members of the ministry.
  4. The governor-general shall be selected among the existing pool of members of the National Assembly, selecting the individual based on seniority, to serve a term under conditions determined by the National Assembly.
  5. The governor-general shall be an expressly non-partisan office.
