Rufus K. Kaine is a Wiltshirian attorney and politician who has served as Mayor of Walkerton since the Walkerton Conflict in 3019. Kaine is a member of the Liberal Conservative Party and previously a member of the Conservative Party. Kaine's administration has been touted as the primary reason Walkerton remained apart of Wiltshire and has worked to connect the divide between German and English Wiltshirians. Kaine himself was originally appointed Mayor by Novanite President Franklin Morris, but received his own democratic mandate following the September 3019 Elections.
Kaine was re-elected in February 3020, following Wiltshire's independence from the New Corporate Republic and re-elected again at the June 3020 elections. During his tenure, Kaine has introduced bilingual schools into Walkerton (with the Education Compromise of 3020), broken down 34% of the Arches/Walkerton wall which divided the communities, introduced new zoning laws to encourage industrial and commercial investment, and finalized the contract for the construction of the Walkerton Atlantic Trading Hub, which became home to the Wiltshire Stock Exchange in 3020. According to independent analysis, Kaine is the "most successful Mayor in Wiltshirian history".
