Heavily shielded and and outfitted with powerful turbolasers, its primary role in combat is to engage with other large capital ships. After the relocation of the Dark Angels base on Terra, the Imperial-I was replaced with the newer model, the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer. Only few Imperial I-class ships are still in service.
