The Wiltshire National Party, or as it is more commonly known simply as the National Party, was a major political party operating in Wiltshire in the second half of 3019 which was dispanded following the New Corporate Republic's invasion of Wiltshire, forming into the Corporate Party (NCR).
National was formed following the June 3019 General Election when Wiltshire First, the Liberal Alliance and the Green Party all united to form a single, national coalition government - preventing incumbent Rita Smith from renewing her Labour led coalition. This government was extremely successful; bringing about a short period of stability, giving Wiltshirians a referendum on Novanite Federation membership and a new flag. The government was so successful that many wanted the formation of a single political party - led by government leader Fillmore Grey - and that is what happened.
The party saw a bump in the polls. However, with National coming out against NF Membership (and the population voting otherwise), Party Leader Fillmore Grey resigned. His resignation led to the election of Jim Balfour - who won the September Elections (even though he lost a majority in the Wiltshire Assembly). Balfour's National Government had promise. However, in September, it was faced with the biggest crisis any Wiltshire Government has faced since the Corporate Depression. The strongest hurricane in recorded history struck Wiltshire, causing massive economic and infrastructural damage. With this, the Office of Disaster Relief (ODR) took control of the city and formed a dictatorship. Balfour went missing and Maxwell Seymore refused to release his grip on power. Seymore severed connections with the Novanite Federation in what would become known as the September Mutiny.
Eventually, the people revolted and a civilian government, led by Governor-General of Wiltshire, Ludwig Kohl - which had to hold another election for a new Wiltshire Parliament. Since this, Bernard Canterbury has taken over the leadership but the party's reputation has been severely damaged. In addition, large factions of former Liberals and Green members broke away because of Canterbury's leadership, forming the Liberal Party (Wiltshire).
