Florian Steinbauer

From TCH Archive

Florian Steinbauer is the current Company Executive Officer and de-facto leader of Chisel Enterprises, after the death of Daniel Morsehead in September of 3019. He is also the Chancellor of the NCR.

Early Life

Florian Steinbauer was born to Chiton Ammadeus Steinbauer and Francine L. Steinbauer in the evening hours of November 9th, 2981, in a small village in the south of the British Isles. From his earliest hour he was said to have been a troubled character due to the fact that his mother died in childbirth, a fact that is said to have caused the untimely death of his father. Whatever the circumstances may be, it can be said that from that point onward, Florian Steinbauer's entire life as a child was spent readying him for a position of corporate power within Chisel Enterprises under the Steinbauer dynasty, which had been in control of most of the company's upper administration for the last two decades prior. Florian Steinbauer's older brother contracted typhoid fever and died shortly before his birth, elevating Florian to the position of next-in-line for the rank of Company Executive Officer. Little is known about his early years aside from the fact that he was privately schooled with heavy emphasis on a military teaching. This left the young Steinbauer with little time for much else. From his early years he displayed a remarkable intelligence matched only by his relentless ambition and cold, sociopathic nature. Telling of his childhood in a 3013 interview, he stated that after a instructor had punished him during his private lessons, he framed the instructor for taking jewelry from his mother's bedroom. The instructor was fired almost immediately, with no-one the wiser.

His father bedridden during much of his childhood, the responsibility of a father-figure fell on his primary bodyguard, a man named Domovoi. The two developed a close father-son relationship, and Domovoi attempted to grow Florian into a good man despite his largely sociopathic nature. He would teach Florian many life lessons, including the lesson that "Arrogance Diminishes Wisdom". Florian would carry these words as his mantra for the rest of his life, even after Domovoi disappeared at age eighteen. To this day it is unsure of what happened to the security officer. One day he was there, and the next he was gone.

First Tenure as CEO of Chisel Enterprises

Florian Steinbauer became the Company Executive Officer of Chisel Enterprises shortly after the death of his father in 2983. Still at a young age, he was scoffed at by many within the administration, viewed as an impudent young man with little grip on how to run the largest multi-planetary corporation in the galaxy. However, he almost instantly proved his power with a number of changes, most notably a massive arms buildup. It was around this time that Chisel Enterprises began to have its first troubles with rival lab corporate Black<Con Labs, engaging in a number of corporate espionage attempts against the smaller company. For whatever reason, Florian Steinbauer saw it as his greatest threat, and one man in particular, Robbert W. Teck, as his greatest enemy. Little is known about why - other than a cryptic remark Florian Steinbauer once stated while thinking he was alone. "That man...possibly has the most potential to change the galaxy out of any of us. Change it against us. He just needs to know how to use this potential". This was recorded by Black<Con Labs, but never relayed to Robbert.

Whether it was caution, fear, or ambition, something led Florian Steinbauer to order the falsification of a Black<Con attack on C.E., to make it appear that the latter had been attacked by the former. In reality, C.E. disguised operatives had carried out the attack. This gave C.E. the reason it needed to finally set about crushing the Black<Con labs corporation. However, the much smaller company was saved by the occurrences at the time - this was shortly after Black<Con had moved its assets to the Doggerland Bank, away from a chaotic Britain. C.E. still had the majority of its holdings at Britain, and thusly, needed to transport their forces and establish forward operating bases, against an enemy that was already established in their powerful mountain facility. Thus began a war against time - Black<Con attempting to bring the war to a fast end before C.E. could swamp them with forces still being poured in from Britain> Every battle became harder - there were more and more C.E. forces being brought over every day. However, against all odds, Black<Con succeeded, bringing the war to a draw by continuing to attack C.E.'s new facilities wherever they popped up. C.E. was also marked a technological deficiency as compared to Black<Con, and mostly relied on sheer numbers.

However, C.E. would not be peaceful for long. In the 2990's, Florian Steinbauer ordered an attack on the Federation, the largest government in existence at the time. This surprise attack completely caught them off guard and left them reeling, allowing for C.E. to win strategic victory after strategic victory. With their president dead, the government of the Federation was ineffective at the beginning of the war. However, they quickly caught up, as the war turned into a bloody mess. Eventually, the Federation collapsed, however.

By this time, C.E. had fully moved to the Doggerland, exerting its influence there, now bringing it to odds with the Almere Socialist Republic. One especially detested figure by Florian Steinbauer was Ger Loogman, the leader of the ASR, KMTA, and ANAC corporation. The hatred was mutual, and they distrusted each other extensively. This led to serious tension between the two, leading to the invasion of Arztotzka.

Disappearance

The Arztotzkan invasion came at the time of the largest financial crash in human history, driving several corporations to their death. Chisel Enterprises weathered the storm - however, their economic situation was weakened due to constant wars of attrition, coupled with the financial crisis. The board, disgusted with Steinbauer, had him replaced with Daniel Morsehead.
