Edward Jellico

From TCH Archive

Captain Edward Cairo Jellico, or sometimes reffered to as Ted Jellico, was a Star Fleet officer and Wiltshirian politician who served as the 4th Prime Minister of Wiltshire. As a Starfleet Officer, Jellico served as Captain of the U.S.S. Exeter and the U.S.S. Vaux. He was put in temporary command of the U.S.S. Enterprise (NCC-1701-H) during a crisis at the Cardassian border, but this was short lived. Following the dissolution of the United Federation of Planets, Jellico moved to Wiltshire alongside Jaresh Inyo. He was a prominant politician in the early days of Wiltshire, serving as Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of the National (and later Conservative Party (Wiltshire)) under Prime Minister Inyo. Upon the resignation of Inyo in 3011, Jellico had no difficulty succeeded him as Conservative Party Leader and Prime Minister.

Jellico became the 4th Prime Minister on June 11, 3011 and would serve until March 3013. His 21 months in office were a very strong time for Wiltshire. Under his leadership, Wiltshire became the strongest regional power in Doggerland. His style of leadership was unique. He would make every decision through debate and was one of a kind in his ability to convince opponants to support his ideas. The Conservatives saw big victories under Jellico. However, they also saw defeats. The January 3013 Election saw the Conservatives lose their overall majority and by March he was forced out by Socialist Leader Renly Stork. Stork became Prime Minister for a few months before the Conservative came back to power under Martin Banks (who had been Jellico's Chancellor of the Exchequer).

Under Jellico's administration, Wiltshire's economy boomed and military strenghth nearly doubled. However, government spending and the deficit did also rise and many attirbute many of these spending policies (which were continued under the next two Conservative Prime Ministers) for Wiltshire's struggle to leave the 3015 Economic Decline and the 3017 Global Corporate Depression.

Following his time in office, Jellico was a elder advisor to Prime Ministers Banks and Loynd and he would die in 3015 at the age of 69.
