David R. Mixer

From TCH Archive

David Richard Mixer (February 22, 2098 - October 23, 2173) was a Vulcan freedom fighter, military general, founding father, and Federation political leader who served as the 1st President of the United Federation of Planets from 2162 until his death in 2173. Prior to his unanimous election as Federation President, Mixer led the Bou'te Fozte freedom-fighting militant group during the Vulcan/Andorian War (2105-2110). He was chosen as one of Vulcan's representatives to the Intergalactic Conference on 2161, becoming the first signatory of the Federation Charter on December 3, 2161.

During his pre-presidency era, he became famous across the planets of Earth, Vulcan, and Tellar. This base of support made him the obvious choice when choosing the first President of the new Federation. He presided over the constitutional convention that established the Federation Charter and a federal government. Mixer was called the "father of peace" in the Alpha Quadrant.

Mixer's role in the early Federation was unmeasurable, as he formed conventions and traditions that remained until the Federation's final dissolution in 2998. His life has been remembered a millennium after his death, and is still considered one of the greatest Vulcans to have ever lived. His death in 2173, during a Starship crash, left the presidency to his Vice President, Thomas E. Dix.
