Chromotech is a corporation obsessed in creating the greatest superhumans. Eventually they fell into illegality just to achieve this goal, resulting to their corporation being shut down. But one science base remained hidden and continued their research, leading to the creation of the Nightwater which then lead to the existence of the Nightlings.
Chromotech was finally eradicated once the Nightlings revolted against their creators and took control of the science base and turned it into what is now known as Nightstone.
