Bremen-Class Monitor

From TCH Archive

"My blocks, and the blocks around it, looked like a moonscape. There was nothing left. My home was one of the only ones left standing, and barely. In the distance, we saw it, the giant metal beast which had wrought this upon us. The wailing began."

-From The Greatest War we Ever Saw - Memoirs of a Villagerington Citizen

Overview

The Bremen-Class Monitor is a relatively new class of ship constructed by the Neu Corporate Republik for frontline service in Die Luftschiffeflotte. Heavily armored and armed, it serves as an assault-craft, meant for trading blows with other airships or providing ground fire. Within ship formations, it is generally located toward the center, where it can be protected from fighters by escort vessels. The craft is built around the concept of damage absorption and return, being rather slow and unwieldy. They are rarely used for occupation purposes, their primary use being in actual combat.

Primary Weapon

The craft is built around a set of four 450mm auto cannons, two on each side, on vertically rotating mounts. These cannons are unable to traverse, meaning the entire ship must rotate in order to aim horizontally. Ammunition feed systems for the weapon dominate much of the middle space of the craft, weaving around the bridge which is located in the center of the craft, toward the bottom. These cannons are capable of firing 20 rounds in total in seven seconds before needing to be reloaded. There is an autoloader system which automatically replenishes the magazines for the guns. This process takes about a minute.

Secondary Weapons

A mix of cannons, machine-guns, and ballistic missiles are also present on the craft. There are no bomb-bays. The craft has some of the heaviest anti-fighter armament of any NCR airship, with dozens of machine-gun-turrets and anti-air missile silos.
