The Borg are a pseudo-species of cybernetic humanoids, or cyborgs, from the Delta Quadrant known as drones, which formed the entire population of the Borg Collective. Their ultimate goal is the attainment of 'perfection' through the forcible assimilation of diverse sentient species, technologies, and knowledge which would be added and absorbed into the hive mind. As a result, the Borg are among the most powerful and feared entities in the galaxy, without really being a true species at all.
The Borg invaded the Alpha and Beta quadrants twice throughout the past 1,000 years. Firstly, known in the Federation as the First Borg War, saw the Subspace Alliance form between the Federation and the Klingon Empire to defeat an incursion of hundreds of Borg ships. The war was eventually won by the Alliance. Later, the Second Borg War saw the collapse of the United Federation of Planets, despite the Federation victory, due to Federation President Robbert Teck's decision to detonate a supernova weapon in the Lorenz Sector. After the end of the Second Borg War, it was thought that the Borg were extinct, due to the stopping of all Borg incursions.
The Borg reappeared on Terra in the 31st century as they attempted to create the nightclub chain Curve as a front for mass assimilation.
