Dalkaisk Names, (Dalkaisk: Sje Delke) refers to the naming customs of the Dalkaisk people.

Given names are typically chosen directly by the parents, who can choose to give a single or occasional, a compound name. These names are sometimes chosen to honor an ancestor.

Middle Names are typically not observed in Dalkaisk Culture, with Terran middle names typically viewed as an extension of ones first name.

Family names follow a traditional patrilineal line, and a matrilineal line in certain situations. A system of forming ones full last name is followed.

In ones full last name, the last name of the father follows first. This by itself is called the “Short name,” typically used in everyday settings.

Dzheri Dumont (short name)

what follows after is the word “eu,” (an archaic word for “associated with”) then the mother’s simple surname.

Dzheri Dumonteuvadjim

The father and Grandfather’s given names then follows in the format “sjue [Father] tis [Grandfather]”

Dzheri Dumonteuvadjim sjue Haduz tis Jetsla

Then follows is the given names of the patrilineal ancestors separated by spaces until the earliest known ancestor. The word “i” (and) is placed before the last name.

If a male ancestor is missing, then the simple last name of the mother is used, with the words “i njon” (and mothered by) before it. Then the given names of the male ancestors follow.

As full names can easily get extremely long, especially with those with well documented history, the Truncated Name is usually used, typically in government or documenting situations.

Truncated Names are formed with the given named followed by the family up to the grandfather’s name, followed by “dvaj” (descended from) and the ancestor’s given name, and simple surname too if it is different from the individual’s.
