Maximilian II (Lucian Carlos Murcia; born 8 May 2978) is the reigning monarch of the Kingdom of the Rock and Shipley.
Maximilian II ascended to the throne in September 3022 following the abdication of Queen Mary Maekar, the young Queen, who stepped aside to aide the process of reunifying the churches of Rockfield and Ecclesia. Maximilian is the grandson of Queen Isabel of Rockfield and held the title Duke of Sinacras since the removal of Brandon Blackfyre in 3021. In addition to being a supporter of House Maekar's claim to the throne, Maximilian fought on their side during the 3021 War of Balancin Succession, which saw Wiltshire annex Rockfield and Mary I assume sole claim to the Iberian Throne.
In 3000, he married Lady Elizabeth of the House Holland. Together, Lucian and Elizabeth have five children: Louis, Peter, Olaf, Henrietta and Victoria. Since 3013, the family has resided in Rockfield alongside the Balancín royal family. Following the restoration of the monarchy, Maximilian became an active royal in the court of King Charles VI. Upon the breakout of the Rockfield civil war, the Blackfyre Rebellion, he pledged his support to the House Maekar and their claim that Charles VI's granddaughter, Mary, should take the throne, becoming a senior commander in the Maekar/Lancastrian army.
In 3021, Maximilian II was named the Duke of Sinacras following the formal removal of the title from the pretender Brandon Blackfyre. During his tenure as Duke of Sinacras, he has been critical of the Balancín split from the Pontifical Church in Ecclesia, stating that politics should not interfere with faithful service and has since advocated for reunion. In addition, he was named Chairman of the Royal Trust - a charitable organization run by the Balancín crown.
Upon his ascension to the throne, Maximilian pledged himself to the cause of reunifying the Rockfield and Ecclesian churches, calling it the "primary objective of his reign". He will be the first monarch without a regent to reign under the control of the Wiltshire Republic. Maximilian has made no public comment on Rockfield's participation in the Wiltshire Republic. In 3022, the city of Shipley, an historic part of the Kingdom of the Rock, voted to re-adopt the monarchy. Maximilian II became King of Shipley. Named after his father, Maximilian of Romania, he takes the name from the 29th century Balancín King Maximilian I, who reigned before the Pius Revolution during the decline of the Rock.
In June 3023, Maximilian II was coronated by Pontifex Konstantin IX alongside his wife, Queen Elizabeth. Maximilian similarly proclaimed that he would change the royal house name from "Hohenzollern-Ansbach" to "Murcia", in reference to the original royal house of Rockfield.
