The Speaker of the National Assembly (formally the Honourable Presiding Officer, Speaker and Representative Member) is the presiding officer of the Wiltshire National Assembly, with authority to choose speakers and other parliamentary powers in order to regulate debate within the chamber. The office, formerly the President of the National Assembly (changed due to the introduction of the office of President of Wiltshire in 3020), is an impartial one, with Speakers expected to work in the interest of the chamber and not their original political parties. Due to this, Speakers are expected to abstain on all major votes, with the exception of constitutional and legal matters. In the event of a tie in the chamber, the Speaker casts the tie-breaking vote.
