Template:Nation infoboxNovenæ, appropriately nicknamed the City of Corporations, is a city-state located in the central region of the Doggerlands, sandwiched between Byfair to the north and Sunnyvale to the south. The city is known for its' accepting attitude towards businesses and business entrepeneurs, a tax haven for upper-class corporate bigshots, and its' long-honored mindset of staying neutral unless provoked.

The idea for the city was originally proposed by TCH in mid-3018, with the goal of uniting corporations by focusing their efforts cooperatively on one single project. The idea was widely accepted and construction began soon after. Novenæ would serve as a neutral territory that all corporations could converge on, and future meetings involving the High Corporate Chamber would take place in Novenæ.

History

Novenae was originally proposed within TCH's High Corporate Chamber, gaining much popularity among corporation owners. The city was proposed as a safe haven for corporations and a neutral staple of the Doggerlands, and would be influenced by past East Asian societes.

Construction began shortly after, with previous abandoned land near adjoining Sunnyvale being bulldozed and completely flattened. H.R., a mysterious official from within the depths of TCH's directorate took power as the city's mayor in August. He then restructured the city as a parliamentary republic, taking the role of Prime Minister shortly after.

Government and Politics

Novenæ's government is a unicameral parliamentary republic, with parliament being composed of elected officials, various ambassadors from corporations with embassies in Novenæ, and individuals invited by the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister serves as the head of state, the current Prime Minister being an individual known as H.R who came into power July of 3018.

As a result of the nature of the city, Novenæ is strictly disallowed from declaring war on other nations as per its legislature. The Novenae Law of Neutrality is a pivotal part of the country's constitution, and cannot be legally overrided by the Prime Minister or any other Members of Parliament.

Military

The Novenae Armed Forces are composed of soldiers and equipment donated to Novenae by various corporations. These corporations often receive a seat on the defense council, a cut of the defense budget, and veto power within Congress for the highest supplier.

Economy

Novenae has been ranked one of the easiest cities to do business in, and the government encourages corporation owners to create headquarters and embassies in Novenae. The corporate tax is among the lowest in the Doggerlands, coupled with strong property rights and little regulations restricting businesses big and small. To top that, many Corporate ambassadors are invited to become members of the Novenae Parliament, posing more benefits for corporations as they get a hand in the country's government.

Controversy

Novenæ's government recently came under fire due to it's handling of the Gray Death refugee crisis. Refugees, hoping to make it into Novenæ approached the border and were ordered to stop by security forces. A riot ensued, with Novenæ police barely being able to push back the refugees. The Novenæ Armed Forces were mobilized fully onto the scene- bringing with them flamethrowers and other anti-riot measures. An estimated 30,000 refugees were wounded, injured, or killed in the ordeal. Prime Minister H.R. has since offered an official apology for the incident, and claims that the government will be reviewing how they handle these incidents in the future.

Novenæ has also received some criticism for its favoritism regarding large, billion-dollar corporations. There is little to no legislation in Novenæ restricting corporations' activities within the city.
