Template:Nation infobox Mälm, Officially the Protectorate of Mälm, is a semi-autonomous state comprosing of the the city Malm, the Headquarters of Mechadyne, and the Campos Santos base. Malm is known for it's many farms, rolling hills, and extremely modern infrastructure and culturally significant architecture.

Although officially democratic, Malm is a protectorate of Mechadyne, meaning that any internal changes within Mechadyne directly affect Mälm's government structure. Mälm's geography consists of hills and grasslands in the north, with forests and mountains in the east. Mälm also is rich in raw minerals, proving to be a strategic location for manufacturing in the aerospace, defense, and mineral processing industry.

History

Campo Santos

Mälm's history began as the Mechadyne Campo De Santos Foward Operating Base (FOB), operating as a military base for strategic support, and as a manufacturing center for Mechadyne. Employee housing was subtle, but quality of life was very high. Public transport also existed in the form of the Mechadyne Rapid Transit System, operating to a now-defunct Mechadyne base north of Jackacity

Development

After the end of the Arstotzkan Conflict, Mechadyne, propped up by a already faulty industry in Campo Santos, suffered major economic turmoil after the downturn of the Byfair industrial sector. However, with funds from unknown individuals, Mechadyne constructed the only international airport in the Southwestern region, bringing in money from commercial and cargo flights. However, after internal conflict within Mechadyne, the region went undeveloped for another year. As the economic situation straightened out, Mechadyne began investing in farms to keep up the food supply, and eventually began constructing public housing, and a more formal headquarters and office building. As the employee numbers grew, autonomy for the off-base residents was granted, coalescing into the Malm Autonomy.

Malm Today

As demands for more representation within the Mechadyne Corporate Council increased, Malm was eventually granted status as it's own nation, however, under a nominal autonomy. All decisions in the Malm legislature could be overruled by the Mechadyne Supreme Corporate Council, and Malm would not be allowed to pursue foreign policy or trade without Mechadyne oversight.
