Dark Angels

From TCH Archive

Dark Angels

The Dark Angels is a military state located in the southeastern Doggerlands. Originally from the planet Taurus, the Dark Angels arrived on Terra in the year 3019. Today, it runs as a separate dominion heavily isolated from the rest of the world. Ruled by its Arbitress, Claire Statura, the Dark Angels is governed through force and intimidation. Their main base of operations in the south is a heavily fortified fortress with walls surrounding the Dark Angels headquarters.

Unlike most nations or corporations, the Dark Angels focuses exclusively on its military. Its power is specialized in all aspects of its military and seeks to expand and stand as a major power on Terra.

History

The Dark Angels are a militaristic people who originated from the distant planet Taurus. Their reasons for leaving their homeworld and undertaking the Great Journey to Terra are because of the worn-torn state of Taurus, leaving it uninhabitable. Historical records indicate their arrival on Terra in the year 3019, though the circumstances of their landing and initial interactions with the existing Terran populations are largely unknown.

Upon arrival, the Dark Angels established a stronghold in the southeastern region of Doggerlands called the Firelands, a landmass that has undergone significant geological shifts over Terran history. Through a combination of superior technology and disciplined military might, they swiftly consolidated their control over this territory, establishing a distinct and formidable military state.

Since their arrival, the Dark Angels Nation has maintained a policy of strict isolation, with minimal interaction with the outside world. Their borders are heavily fortified, and their internal affairs are conducted with an air of intense secrecy. This isolationist stance has allowed them to develop their unique culture, government, and advanced technology largely unhindered by external influences.

Government Structure

The Dark Angels Nation operates under an absolute monarchy, with ultimate authority residing in its ruler, who holds the title of Arbiter (male) or Arbitress (female). The current ruler is the formidable Claire Statura.

To assist the Arbiter in the administration of their dominion, the Arbitress appoints Consulates as government officials. These Consulates are responsible for overseeing specific matters of the state within designated regions or sectors.

The Arbiter will also appoint one Grand Consulate to manage all other Consulates. The Grand Consulate acts as a second-in-command and assumes leadership in the Arbitress's absence, making them a highly influential figure within the Dark Angels hierarchy.

Military

The foundation of the Dark Angels Nation is its powerful and technologically advanced military. It is comprised of three distinct branches, each covering a specific aspect of warfare.

Dark Angels Military Branches

  • The Army: Responsible for ground-based warfare, utilizing advanced tanks, heavily armed walkers, and sophisticated combat droids.
  • The Navy: Commands fleets of advanced capital airships, ensuring control in space and the atmosphere.
  • The Air Force: Operates cutting-edge aircraft and spacecraft, providing air superiority, strategic bombing capabilities, and landing crafts.

The overall affairs of the military are directly overseen by the Arbitress, who acts as the supreme commander, making all executive decisions for these branches. Each military branch has its own command structure which is managed by high-ranking individuals reporting directly to the Arbitress.

The technological superiority of the Dark Angels Military is a defining characteristic of their nation. They possess weaponry and vehicles far beyond what is commonly seen in the rest of the world.

Industry & Technology

The Dark Angels' advanced technology is a result of the dedicated work of the Dark Angels Department of Interdisciplinary Research. This department is responsible for the continuous upgrading of existing military technology and the development of entirely new weapons, defense systems, and other technological advancements. Their research spans various fields, ensuring the Dark Angels maintain a significant technological edge.

The Dark Angels Corporation plays a crucial role in manufacturing the advanced military hardware developed by the research department. They oversee the production of the newer D.A. assets, including ground vehicles, aircraft, and airships, ensuring a steady supply of advanced equipment for their military forces.

Internal Security

Maintaining order and control within the isolated nation is paramount. Organizations such as the Directive Security Agency (DSA) work closely with the D.A. Military to ensure the internal security of the Dark Angels Nation. The DSA handles intelligence gathering, counter-espionage, and the suppression of any internal dissent, reinforcing the Arbitress's rule through surveillance and, if necessary, force.

Culture and Society

Information regarding the culture and society of the Dark Angels is scarce due to their isolationist policies. However, it can be inferred that their society is highly regimented and militaristic, given the emphasis on force and the structure of their government. Loyalty to the Arbitress and the military is a central tenet of their culture. Their origins on Taurus have also instilled unique cultural practices and beliefs that remain hidden from the outside world.

The Dark Angels Nation maintains a strong bond with other Tauran factions such as Oscdea, Dalkai, and Swiftridge, while allowing minimal official contact with other Terran nations or polities on Terra. Their borders are heavily guarded, and any attempts at unauthorized entry are likely met with hostility. The reasons for this extreme isolationism are unknown but could stem from a desire to protect their advanced technology, maintain their unique societal structure, or perhaps a lingering distrust of the Terran powers.
