Almere Socialist Republic (ASR) was one of the largest nations in Doggerland. ASR was organized into three sections. The "Homeland" or core of the republic was made up of Almere, Villagerington, and Arstotzka. The Southern Territories were made up of Mirfield and former ASR controlled Bukharam. The Northern Territories were Byfair and Gorath. ASR was dissolved and annexed into the Eastern Federal Republic.
History
ASR was founded a few days after the former Soviet Republic of Almere Valley (SRAV) fell to a military advance by the neighboring Bonitana. ASR became a nation primarily because the participants had excellent relations, they were stronger when working together, there would be great economic returns, and grouped in this way they could more easily deter Bonitana from further military aggression. The national bond was finalized when all three parties agreed to and signed a document known as the ASR Article, which outlines the code of conduct for the nation.
Since its founding, ASR has also welcomed Orbital City (now part of Arstotzka), Mirfield, and Gorath as members. With the military addition of the ASR National Airbase in Orbital City, the nation was a world power to be reckoned with. ASR National Airbase was demolished after the end of the October Conflict
In July-August of 3017, an anonymous online poll revealed that over 70% of Arstotzkan citizens supported leaving the ASR. Arstotzka's governor, Kashika Juyoma, began making motions to secede from the ASR, and set up an Arstotzkan interim government, resulting in a breech of the ASR Article. This lead to much political and military turmoil, eventually resulting in Arstotzka's demarcation as a “legally attackable zone” under DefCon League law. A BlackCon Labs demilitarization zone was put in place, which marked the border between Arstotzka and the remainder of ASR, but also the border between DefCon-regulated land and non-DefCon-regulated land. A few weeks later, DefCon was destroyed by Chisel Enterprises, signaling the beginning of the 3017 Corporate Depression.
During the depression period, ASR was broken and illegible to be a national zone.
ASR successfully reacquired Arstotzka via purchase from Chisel Enterprises after the end of the depression, reinstating it as a national power.
ASR was dissolved and the ASR Article rendered null and void on January 3rd, 2019. The cities of ASR were absorbed into the Eastern Federal Republic.
