Description
Also known as Expanse Triumph Day when translated into Terran, Erosey Maledi Day is a national holiday celebrated all across Severo to mark the anniversary of the Severonians' victory over their Tauran oppressors after decades of fighting in the War of Retribution against foreign invaders from the planet of Taurus.
This holiday is celebrated on June 17th with a large military parade and plenty of festivities being made for the momentous occasion, even veterans from the war are invited to walk in the parade as a great honour.
Historical Influence
Eroesy Maldi Day is celebrated every year to commemorate the Severonians' victory against the Taurans.
Victory in the War of Retribution had been achieved through great cost and decades of war, the celebrations serve as a reminder and to honour the sacrifices of those who gave their lives to achieve the nation's independence.
However, with every year that passes, this symbolic meaning becomes increasingly warped as time passes. With every year that passes, its symbolic meaning of honouring the fallen is slowly becoming cry for true retribution, for a new age of imperialism. A cry for vengeance.
History
The beginnings and exact date of Severo's rebellion against the Swiftridgian Kingdom is often debated as it was a gradual chain of events that led up to the spark of rebellion. Some say it was the protest by Severonian Autonomous Movement which ended in violence when the colonial government responded with brute force and enactment of martial law by the Royalist forces thereafter which ended in failure. Others say it was the strike by Miner's Guild where miners refused to perform their duties to the state and resulted in a bloody clash against the authorities. A couple few would say it was the sabotaging efforts made by a terrorist organisation, Vorisla Firstborn, who wanted the restoration of the House of Vorisla and bring back the Severonian Empire.
However, all can agree that there was one significant and symbolic event during that period of turmoil that sparked the Severonian Rebellion. The first piece of the dominos ready to fall, from a caseate of events prior to this. It is known as the Munity of Statera.
Statera is the Capital District city of the Swiftridgian Expanse with a vast history for the beginnings of the Severonian people.
In 2955, Statera it was home to the largest concentration of military force on the planet as well as being the capital for the planet's colonial government. However, with the onset of violence, protest, the cry for independence, mistreatment and discrimination of Severonians as "inferior Swiftridgians" by Tauran-Swiftridgians reached a boiling point.
In one of the multiple barracks dotted across the city. shots rang out as Severonians and Tauran-Swiftridgians clashed against each other. Resulting in a string of events where battalions and even entire regiments across the city began an uncoordinated rebellion against their oppressive occupiers.
Through great effort, decades of war and bloodshed, the people of Severo emerged victorious against their Tauran occupiers. In its day of victory, the Swiftridgian Expanse was proclaimed and the Expanse Triumph Day is celebrated as the nation's anniversary of victory and independence.
