Luftschiffesoldat

From TCH Archive

A class of C.E. PMC (Private Military Contractor), Luftschiffesoldaten are highly trained and ruthlessly effective marine units stationed aboard Luftschiffeflotte airships. Often given special weaponry and trained for close quarters combat, these soldiers can be deployed in ground engagements or used to boarding enemy airships. They are also charged with the defense of the airships they serve on from enemy boarding attempts.

Training

Trained specially for the CQC environments often present in the tight quarters of airships, Luftschiffesoldaten go through rigorous regimented training, including CQC training aboard captured Oscdean Rokai-class frigates, taken during the Morsehead conflagration. This training exercise is conducted with training beanbag rounds, and reportedly, 20% of trainees flunk out due to the intense scenarios aboard these ships, which are kept deeply classified.

Equipment

Luftshiffesoldaten generally wear heavier armor than normal C.E. PMC's, with far more padding. This is to protect against shotguns and plasma weapons in CQC fighting. They also have the capability to switch to a closed-oxygen system when fighting on the decks of airships at high altitudes. Oxygen is stored in the tank contained on their backs.

Luftschiffesoldaten's weaponry varies depending on the circumstances where they are used. For instance, Luftschiffesoldaten deployed on a battlefield from an airship generally use rifles such as the STG-99 and other weaponry similar to a normal CE PMC. However, when fighting in boarding operations or defending against enemy boarding, Luftschiffesoldaten will use a greater amount of close-in weaponry such as shotguns and sub-machine-guns.
