Grand Moff Tarkin (November 1, 2159 - May 19, 2236, January 19, 2989 - December 15, 2993) was a Terran politician who served as the 13th and 34th President of the Terran United Federation of Planets. Tarkin was the only President to serve two non-consecutive terms in office. He was a member of the Democratic Party.
Tarkin's rise to the Presidency began following the death of Vice President Connor Clarke. Clarke, who was elected alongside President Phillip Coulson, died in a HYDRA attack on Terra. Following this, President Coulson appointed Tarkin as Vice President. Tarkin was serving as a member of congress at the time. His tenure as Vice President was short, however, as President Coulson would resign from office. This started his first Presidency.
Tarkin is remembered as a notable President in the history of the Terran Federation during it's first tenure and even more so during it's second tenure, over 500 years later for things like the creation of MACO and the rapid expansion of Starfleet. Grand Tarkin was reanimated by HYDRA in 2989 in order to infiltrate the newly re-founded Federation, however, this was ultimately a failure as Tarkin was restored to his original mental condition and went onto serve as President for another term before his death, which was the catalyst of the C.E-Federation War (2993-2998).
