Gavin Thompson is a Wiltshirian civil servant and central banker who is the Chancellor of the Exchequer since December 3025. He was the governor of the Wiltshire Reserve before that, from 5 February 3023 until his appointment to the Treasury. Additionally, he was chairman of the Financial Stability Board between 3024 and late 3025. Thompson has led Wiltshire's central bank through the Wiltshire Civil War and during its tenure as a subject of the Balancín Kingdoms. As a result, he has been described as Wiltshire's "most reliable politician", and has been credited for preventing total economic collapse during these crises.
Following Audrick Hill's appointment as prime minister, he named Thompson to the position of chancellor, making him the first civil servant in the position in history.
