The first Wiltshire General Election was held on September 15, 3009 to elect the first ever Wiltshire National Assembly. The election was held in accordance with the signing of the Wiltshire Act 3009 and under the supervision of Interim Prime Minister Jaresh Inyo's caretaker government. The election was to 51 electoral districts across the cities of Juneville and Walkerton and was not strongly contested.

The National Party was the only formal political party to stand candidates in all 51 constituencies and the only won to win any seats following the election. Jaresh Inyo was elected Prime Minister, forming the Second Inyo Ministry (Wiltshire) as a majority National Government.

Campaign

There was little to no campaign. Jaresh Inyo was "focusing on building a foundation for government" during the official campaign period. In addition, there was no formal manifesto release and no debates. This was the only election to ever be held in this way. Inyo saw little need to formally campaign, though he was an experienced campaigner (due to the fact he served as President of the United Federation of Planets).

In addition, no major issues were discussed. The incumbent government hadn't instituted any policies and any proposals were "to be considered after the election". This unique kind of campaign led to an unsurprising result.

Results

The National Party won 51 out of 51 seats, forming a majority National Government with Prime Minister Jaresh Inyo. In addition, the National Party won 76.5% of the popular vote. No other political party won more than 5% of the vote, with the rest of the vote being split among independent candidates.

Aftermath

The resulting government was not a stable one. The National Party was a broad church but because of Jaresh Inyo's desire to direct any government towards the right-wing (pro-capitalistic), it led to divisions with more left-leaning members of the government. Most notably, Trade Minister Thomas Shore. This would continue to simmer until reaching a tipping point in November 3009 when Thomas Shore led a rebel faction to form a shadow government - which would later form the Socialist Party.

This divide would lead to a Socialist victory in the next general election.
