Wapton is an independent city state located in the far north. It is entirely made up of the city of Wapton, and is considered the holy city of Wapolicism. The city-state has since its founding grown quickly, with easy construction due to most foundations still being relatively intact. The city-state is not as technologically advanced as many others in Doggerland, but has a thriving cultural scene and a fast-growing population due to the many beliefs held by Wapolicists in the city-state. Furthermore, the city-state has a very well-functiontioning and democratic government, despite the very religious nature of the state. Crime is nearly unheard of, as anything resembling a criminal act deems you a “bitch” and leads to said “bitch” being ostracized. The highest position in the city-state is the elected “Baddie”, taking the role of the Prime minister in other democracies. Formally, the head of state is considered to be Nicki Minaj, the messiah of Wapolicism, making Wapton a constitutional necrocracy.
History of Wapton
Wapton is constructed on the ruins of an old city and therefore no one has agreed on an exact founding date for the city-state. However, most argue that it was founded the same year as Wapolicism, the year 2818. According to the Wet Ass Testament, it was this year that a group of roughly 3000 people left the bunkers beneath Wapton and began to explore the ruins of the city. This group of people, later known as Waptonians, discovered the remains of a single person in the city, and near the remains was a device containing music from the early 2000s. The moment they touched the device, the hit song WAP by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion played.
The Waptonians, having lived in poorly maintained bunkers for generations, had not heard music like this before, and were instantly taken aback by the music. The device was thoroughly examined, and contained songs by Cardi B, Meghan Thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande and many more. The corpse was also examined, but the only remains apart from the skeleton was a pure gold necklace that said “Nicki Minaj”. It is therefore believed that the corpse was Nicki Minaj (despite later research showing that the skeleton was male, but most Wapolicists argue that she simply changed gender), and that she is the god chosen savior of the Waptonians.
Lacking knowledge and technology, and believing the area they found was a holy land, Waptonians began reconstructing the ruins of the old city they had found. They named the city Waptown (later shortened Wapton, because “it has a better rhyme, yo”), in honor of the holy song WAP.
In 3022, nope.co managed to start an alliance with Wapton. Wapton was very open to working with nope.co because the device that practically founded Wapolicism was an early version of a nopePhone. nope.co has been investing a lot of money into modernizing the city and wishes to make Wapton their new manufacturing hub, since both Mälm and Quantia have failed.
