The Rift Drive was an accidental discovery by the Halisayh Corporation around the 2300s. Originally developed as a prototype for a new type of Ion plasma cannon, Halisayh scientists discovered that the magnetic coils and rails originally used to launch the projectile acted like a hyper propulsion. With the addition of magnetic rails mounted within the thrust, ships are able to maintain rift acceleration while maintaining fuel efficiency.
General Information
The Rift Drive is found on every ship in the Oscdean Vindictus Ove naval force. Ships such as the Unata Class destroyer need only 3, while large ships such as the Udani Class and the Exodus Class needs 6.
The latest Rift Engine accleration can accelerate up to a max of 4,496,886,870 m/s during rift drive.
Known Models
H-16/I- These are found on light frigates and Oscdean destroyers such as the Unata Class and the Zidus Class.
H-18/II- were exclusively made for the Rokai Class cruiser due to its larger thrusters.
HU-21/IV- These were developed for heavier ships such as the Exodus Class carriers and the Udani Class battleship.
Hu-22/V- Still currently under development for the new Octavia Class carriers.
