The Eastern Federal Republic (E.F.R or EFR), also known as the The Federation, is a massive nation located in the Doggerlands. Comprising of 14 constituent nations, known as Federal Subjects (FS), the nation operates as a decentralized federal republic with each FS pursuing their own directions in government, economy, and internal policy, but united by two central parliaments and common interests in defense. The E.F.R is located east of the majority of the prominent settlements in the region, giving it its name.
The predecessors of the nation were the five states of Bonitana, (later the United Cities of Greater Bonitana, UCGB) Byfair, Arstotzka, Almere, and Villagerington (later the Almere Socialist Republic, ASR). After a series of wars between the UCGB and ASR, the final conflict initiated a series of reforms within Bonitana and Almere that eventually snowballed into the formation of the Federation.
History
Pre-formation
Bonitana, Almere, Villagerington, and Arstotzka (along with the Socialist Republic of Almere Valley) were all founded within a few years of each other in the area surrounding the Almere Valley, relatively isolated from the rest of the region.
As the cities developed, competition for land, resources, and political motivations launched the region into a everlasting time of conflict, with tens of thousands of deaths and setbacks in development. After the deadly climax of the Second SRAV-Bonitanan War, Almere, Villagering, and Arstotzka united to form the Almere Socialist Republic (ASR). Bonitana, although outnumbered and alone, managed to stave off further aggression.
During a wave of nationalism in Arstotzka within the ASR, numerous radical groups declared independence, breaching the ASR Article and launching the region into another conflict. Bonitana and Chisel Enterprises intervened on the behalf of Arstotzka but quickly revealed their true motives to conquer the region, whilst the DefCon League, a inter-corporate peacekeeping and diplomatic force, intervened to defend ASR. The conflict was a stalemate, returning to status quo ante bellum after a regional economic collapse.
The third and final conflict in the region, the 3018 Bukharam Crisis, began to develop when Mechadyne restarted operations in the region. In exchange for manufacturing facilities and land development, Mechadyne promised to defend Bonitana against any external threat, signing a mutual defense treaty. A system of bunkers and fortifications funded by Mechadyne were developed along the ASR - Bonitanan border, and Bonitana's army was refurbished. After accusations from the ASR that Bonitana was funding terrorism alongside a weakening of Chisel Enterprises - Black<Con relations, the August Conflict began. The war was a Pyrrhic victory for the ASR, which lost a significant amount of its economic power, unity, and morale for West Bukharam and the Alphenland. President Antonio P. Tiger resigned and handed power to Heinrich Totenkopf, the head of the Bonitanan military clique and a far-right ultranationalist. Totenkopf reformed the state into the United Cities of Greater Bonitana and transformed the state into a highly restrictive authoritarian police state, protected by DREDD and the Bonitana Security Forces (BSF). Totenkopf's irredentism, nationalistic fervor and authoritarian stance was the final straw in ASR - Bonitana conflict.
After gathering the support of a group of new nations in the region, Totenkopf founded SATO alongside the Oscdeans, with the ultimate goal of the total destruction, division, and extermination of ASR and its populace. On October 28th, ASR was invaded by a massive force of seven militaries, nearly suffering a total annihilation of its armed forces. The offensive into ASR began to slow down, however, and eventually the effects of the war lead to a downturn of the Bonitanan economy. Heinrich Totenkopf, threatened by a group of rebellious BSF officers, agreed to avoid total annihilation of the ASR and instead chose to work out a peace treaty independent of SATO.
After the re-integration of the newly annexed areas, UCGB was subject to a wave of democratization. This spilled into ASR, culminating with the overthrow of James Testificate by Ger Loogman. Heinrich Totenkopf resigned and elections were held, with the Social Democrat Party candidate Mark De Vries winning the presidency, and a left-wing coalition overtaking the parliament. After a series of catastrophic and destabilizing threats shook both ASR and UCGB, a radical movement to unite the nations began to catch speed. After a few setbacks and boycotts by other nations, the UCGB and ASR officially agreed to dissolve their nations on January 3rd, 3019 and founded the Eastern Federal Republic.

The March Division
During the end of the IDO-EFR War, some of the UCGB's former territories (Bonitana, Lorikeet, Pasqal) seceded from the EFR.
Following the War, EFR created an economic stimulus package that would encourage more industrial growth in Villagerington and more defensive structures along their borders with the NF, the Oscdean States, and Elysia.
Government and Politics
The EFR, as the name implies, is a collection of Federal Subjects (FS) all aligned under a central government, which consists of the Congressional, Judicial and Executive departments. The Congress is composed of congressmen elected by their FS to represent their interests and decide on the direction of the nation. The Executive department is a tetrarchy, a group of territory govenors elected to power by Congressional vote and by popular vote. Both branches are designed to keep eachother in check.
Each FS is entitled to create its own form of government under the agreement that it is completely democratic. Despotist and authoritarian governments are not allowed to dissolve or disrupt a FS' democratic system, but may be elected to power as long as legitimate elections are held every few years.
Although the EFR is perceived by many to be socialist, the EFR has no official economic system, with the economy directly tied to the democratic system.
EFR has Five Presidents which are as follows: Ger Loogman, James Testificate, Antonio P. Tiger, (MrFloppyDisc's in-RP name), and (ThePorkyPorker's in-RP name). Each of these presidents are also governors of one or more Federal Subjects.
