Never dwell close to the purple hazed sea.
— Calcrath 2nd Fleet

The Yoruntangburth (yor-tang-birth) is a near-mythical sea creature that thrives in Taurus's main four seas. A creature many believe to be a cosmic deity that thrives only in water. The term Yoruntangburth comes from common Tauran and often called "The Old Sea Emperor" in Catain or "The Tyrant Mother" in Dalikaisk and "The Black Winged Kraken" in Terran English.

Descriptions

In all seas, Yoruntangburth commonly share the same physical appearance of a wing-like creature with a long tail and multiple massive pectoral fins. They average around 130-202 meters in length, making them the top apex predators of the sea, a lone wolf that will aggressively hunt anything, even its own kind. They are known for terrorizing and capsizing many naval vessels, and partly why some states in Taurus have very little presence in the ocean.

From the observations of old sea tales, they are agile swimmers, capable of circling around its prey and stunning them by whipping the water around them. For larger preys, they are observed to release a black inky substance in the surrounding waters, shrouding the preys vision as the Yoruntangburth charges them with the two saber-like tusks near its mouth. Not much is recorded about these creatures, as they are only spotted during the winter seasons of Taurus.
