The Rift Drive is a type of warp travel used by the Oscdean State, mainly used for interplanetary travel and occasionally as a war tactic. This alien technology is famously known for its bright rings and flashes when a ship enters and exits its warp state known as a Rift Surge.
History
The first iterations of the Rift Drive were around 2353 after a group of Oscdean scientists known as the Echonauts discovered and manipulated a series of wormhole networks between the fabric of space.
Diagnostics
The Rift Drive operates by traveling through tunneled route within a realm know as a Rift Surge. In this surge, travel time is determined by the mass of the ship and the tunnel itself, the more often ships use a specific tunnel, the easier and faster it is to travel through.
A common feat of the rift drive is the exit acceleration due to the volatile nature of a rift drive exit rupture. This phenomenon has been adopted into a Oscdean military tactic known as "Scrapping".
