The Novanite Federation (often called the NNF referring to its' former name or simply NF) is a federal semi-presidential republic in the Doggerlands comprising the provinces of Scion, Novenae, Wiltshire and Ibeeville. It is the second most populous federation in the Doggerlands after the Eastern Federal Republic. Its' formation was mainly spurred by the shared interests of the founder states, Scion and Novenae. Both societies shared values such as neutrality and free trade, and wished to protect these interests through the federation. Wiltshire and Ibeeville would soon vote to join the federation as well by referendum.

History

Talks of a Federation had been started long before the nation would come to fruition, being mentioned briefly in diplomatic conversations between the President of Scion and the Prime Minister of Novenae. The events of the Novenae Civil War as well as many minor disputes with the two main neighboring powers, the United Cities of Greater Bonitana and the Almere Socialist Republic revitalized interest in the creation of the alliance.

Rumors began to spread that the UCGB and ASR would unite into a potential supernation, posing a significant threat to city-states in the region. The theoretical supernation would surely dominate the Doggerlands if left unchecked. The diplomatic meeting of Novenae-Scion in Bern led to the formation of the "Northern Novanite Federation", consisting of Novenae and Scion. The Eastern Federal Republic would be formed shortly after.

Politics

The Federation has two layers of government: federal and provincial.

Federal

The federal government is divided into three branches:

• Executive: Headed by a Federal President, who serves a 6-month term. The Council of State (CoS) is composed of the directors of each province and serves as a privy council to the President. The President is commander-in-chief of the Federation Armed Forces.
• Legislative: The Federal Parliament passes federal legislation, may subpoena members of the executive, and has the ability to declare war.
• Judicial: The Federal Court (FC) sees cases "of national importance" and resolves disputes between member states. Justices are appointed by the President, with the confirmation of the Parliament, for life tenures.

Provincial

Each province has the right to elect their own local legislature and elect their own Director. The Director shall lead the local government and be either appointed by the legislature or elected in their own right. The local government do the day-to-day running of the Provinces and handle matters such as policing, bin collection and road services.

Novenae

The Novenae Parliament is elected through a system which grants seats to active Corporations and to geographical areas. The Director of Novenae is elected through a popular vote and the incumbent is H.R. who has served as head of the Novenae government since 3018.

Wiltshire

The Wiltshire Provincial Assembly is elected on a constituency based system. The Director of Wiltshire is elected by a majority of the Provincial Assembly. The incumbent Director is Samantha Schrӧder who has served since February 3019.

Scion

The Scion Democratic Assembly is the elected legislature in Scion. The Director of Scion is elected and is currently MicroAngelo.

Ibeeville

Ibeeville does not currently have a Director or a legislature. However, they will be set up soon.
