Revision as of 15:19, 11 January 2024

The Prime Minister of the Balancín Kingdoms is the head of the government of the Balancín Kingdoms. Created by King Maximilian the Crusader in 3023, the position of Prime Minister did not formally exist previously in Balancín history. The head of the government was an informal title, usually held by the most powerful or influential member of the King's Council. However, following the creation of the Kingdoms by the Doggerlands Crusade of 3023, the position was formalised. Former Lord Mayor Christina De Leon was appointed to the position as the first Prime Minister. She was replaced by The Lord Maekar in early 3024.

The Prime Minister is appointed by the King, and serves at the King's pleasure. The Royal Charter does not necessitate that the office of Prime Minister is occupied, with periods of non-occupancy being known as Direct Rule. The first direct rule of the reign of King Maximilian II ended when De Leon was appointed Prime Minister. Unlike the position of Prime Minister of Wiltshire or Prime Minister of Lancastria, the Prime Minister does not depend on the consent of Parliament, merely the consent of the King.
