Overview

The Chisel Enterprises Sturmgewehr 99 Ausf. C (Model C) was a standard issue assault rifle designed and produced by Chisel Enterprises from 3019-3020.

Design

The St.G 99-C one of three prototypes designed by Chisel Dynamics, the research and design subsidiary of Chisel Enterprises in July in August of 3019. The goal was to design a new standard assault rifle to replace the HK-500 assault rifles used before, which were becoming obsolete. Three designs were submitted, and the third prototype, the XAR-99 (Experimental Assault Rifle Model 99) was selected for mass production, and consequently became designated the St.G 99.

Use in Conflict

The St.G 99 first saw conflict in one of the many border skirmishes between the city of Oscdea and the Chisel Enterprises Atomic Research Facility, where it proved its worth as a deadly weapon, sufficiently powerful enough to be effective at long ranges. However, the weapon was found to be somewhat unreliable during these early engagements, and was subsequently returned for minor redesign, becoming the St.G Ausf. C, which now had far higher reliability due to a redesign of the bolt. The improved variant proceeded to replace the Ausf. A and B models, and became the main assault rifle of the Chisel Enterprises forces during the Morsehead Conflagration.

Features

The Stg. 99 Ausf. C has several features which distinguish it from other ballistic assault rifles. Firstly is the round type, which is of a large 8.12x36mm Kurz Caliber, providing for effective stopping power. However, this gives the weapon a distinctly high recoil. This was solved by the Chisel Enterprises exoskeletons in use by their PMCs which served to greatly increase weapon steadiness. However, to a soldier not utilizing an exoskeleton, the weapon is reported to have a very high kick and cannot be fired accurately on full auto.

The rifle's standard magazine is a high-capacity 45-round drum magazine, unlike the standard box magazines in use by most other ballistic assault rifles. The weapon also has an integrated scope and flash hider.

Performance

Being one of the most reliable mass-produced rifles in the last century, the weapon is prized for its hardiness and simplicity. Lacking the technological marvels of later Chisel Enterprises weapons, the rifle does not need to be powered, and has no sensitive electronics that can be broken. It is a bare-bones rifle, able to be left in mud for days and still fire. It's also fairly accurate when fired semiautomatically.

Replacement

The StG.99 was phased out in mid-3020 in favor of the Machtgewehr McG 20, and by October of 3020 it was fully replaced by the aforementioned rifle. StG.99's were sold en masse both abroad and in the Doggerland bank to help fund the Neu Corporate Republik's war effort, and as such, it is an extremely common weapon among poorer nations and terrorist cells, often being used alongside the KAR M1 by radicalized militias and warlords in the Novus Imperium Romanum, as well as in the southern Doggerlands.
