Grey was first elected a member of the [[Provincial Director of Wiltshire]] as a "independent Conservative" in support of [[Audrick Hill]]'s minority government. He continued to be supportive of Hill. However, made news when he refused to support [[Samantha Schrӧder]] (though because of the [[Conservative Party (Wiltshire)]]'s majority victory in [[January 3019 Wiltshire General Election]], it had little real impact).

Grey was appointed the Wiltshire Minister of Corporations during Hill's administration and continued to work in the ministry under [[Labour Party]] Director [[Rita Smith]]. This role put him in the position of representing Wiltshire at a dinner of corporate leaders in June 3019. This dinner led to a hostage crisis. Grey, though reportedly cowardly during the event, survived and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President [[Franklin Morris]].

His raised his profile to become well known among world leaders. This put him in a prime position to stand for the leadership of the national coalition. Following the [[June 3019 Wiltshire Legislative Elections]], Grey was the only independent candidate elected. He decided to join the coalition and his independent status made him a perfect candidate to be the mediator of the three parties of the coalition. In a easy victory in a leadership election, he was appointed the third Director of Wiltshire on June 17 (4 days after the election).

Grey is not an outward going man. He is reserved and often likes to spend time alone on the riverside. He has been compared to a "bullied high school kid". He struggled in his early life to make many friends and his decision to go into politics has been said to be rooted in an obsession to have people like him.

John "Fillmore" Grey, or as he is more commonly known, Fillmore Grey, (January 19, 2959 - December 9, 3019) was a Wiltshirian politician and statesman who served as the third Director of Wiltshire for three-months during 3019. Grey is famous for his calling of the Wiltshire Flag Referendums and the Wiltshire Independence Referendum, the second of which ended his career as Director when he was forced to resign after backing independence but Wiltshirians voted to remain apart of the Novanite Federation.

Grey was first elected to the Assembly as an independent candidate in the February 3017 Election as a "Independent Conservative".
