The Ausmerzer is the pride of the New Corporate Republic's Luftschiffeflotte. A vital portion of its military projection power, it serves as a deadly warship and a flying aircraft carrier, bringing the military might of the NCR wherever its shadow falls.

Construction

Initial conceptionalization and construction on the first of the Ausmerzer (Eradicator) line of ships began in the climactic moments of the Morsehead Conflagration. It had become clear to the Chisel Enterprises upper administration during the course of the war that they dearly lacked capital ships, and so a major effort was made to initiate construction on larger craft in order to match the Vindictus Ove's mighty capital warships. This led Chisel Dynamics designers to propose a ship like no other - nearly twice as large as the Vindictus Ove's largest class of ship at the time, the Octavia-Class. This new class of ship was kept shrouded in complete secrecy during its construction. However, the war ended before it could be finished, and thusly, the first ship of the class constructed, the Ausmerzer V-1 (V standing for Vengeance) never saw action in the Morsehead Conflagration.

Use in the Invasion of Novenæ

The Ausmerzer V-1 would see combat soon after, though, as the Ibrahimic government of Novenæ slowly threw itself into severe debt with Chisel Enterprises, purchasing vast amounts of military equipment with loans which it later refused to pay. This refusal to pay prompted a decision by Chisel Enterprises to mount a full military invasion of the city, in order to take the entire area as collateral for debts owed. An integral piece of this invasion was the Ausmerzer V-1, which would slowly fly into position over the city and provide air cover to the ground forces which entered the city in September of 3019. The invasion was swiftly over - the reclusive city-state proving no match for the invaders. The Ausmerzer only fired once in the battle - using one of its autocannons to destroy an enemy tank brigade in the city center.

Later Use and other Ships Constructed

Shortly after the Neu Corporate Republik was founded, work began on the Ausmerzer V-2 and V-3. These sister ships were intended to be identical to the V-1. While construction began, the Ausmerzer V-1 was pressed into combat exercises with the multitude of new ships constructed for the Luftschiffeflötte. It was then deployed to the Eastern sea.

Three months after this deployment, in July of 3020, the Ausmerzer V-2 was completed. It was then deployed to the West, performing patrols around the Atomforschungzentrum. It is identical to the V-1.

Work on the Ausmerzer V-3 ground to a halt as funding was diverted to other projects, namely the Walpurgisnacht Klasse-A Zeppelin cruisers. The craft sat in its shipyard, about a quarter of the way completed, until work resumed in November of 3020. The Ausmerzer V-3 was completed in February of 3021. It's current whereabouts and patrol routes are unknown, with the only sighting being over the British Coast in late February 3021. It is not known whether this ship has any design variations with regard to the V-1 and V-2.

All three ships are due for a refit in August 3021.

Purpose and Specifications

The Ausmerzer's primary purpose is to be a force projector for the NCR's Luftschiffeflötte. As such, it has multiple hangars for a variety of fighters, bombers, helicopters, and cargo aircraft. It also carries several contingents of marines, along with a variety of armored ground vehicles. The Ausmerzer's ground forces are such a force that it is reported as single-handedly being able to occupy a city the size of Avalon. The veracity of this claim is not certain, but there are multiple indicators that the Luftschiffeflötte believes this to be true and fully intends for such a scenario to be possible.

The Ausmerzer is also a fully-functional warship intended to be able to fight against other capitol ships. While being surpassed in size by the Oscdean Zauadi class, the Ausmerzer is surprisingly mobile due to its three large engines. Were it ever to come up in combat against Oscdean capitol ships, it would certainly take advantage of this.
