Calbrunes were ancient melee weapons of the Ponaban people that slowly integrated themselves into Oscdean culture.

They are known for their straight geometric design and flat edges, capable of decisive slices. As the two races slowly collided, Calbrunes were used not used as only weapons of war, but also weapons of honor. When using a Calbrune, one does not seek opportunity, but lethality.

Calbrunes usually come in the form of a long sword, but can also come in the form of great swords, tangs, polearms, and machetes.

History

The Ponaban race were small tribes of warrior monks that lived in the high remote regions of the Middle Continents and famously known for using the Calbrune sword. The Ponabans do not believe in the philosophy of an easy opportunity, but rather endure the philosophy of achieving the opportunity.

Calbrunes are believed to have existed way before the Daufuna Era in the 2000s, and were forged and used only by the Ponabans. The main fighting techniques involves slashes. One bleeds to death by a Calbrune, not slayed by a Calbrune.

In present day Oscdean culture, Calbrune colosseums are popular entertainment, with an annual tournament known as “Yetrai Noctura“ overseeing the Calbrune duels.

Evolution

As technology rapidly advanced, the Calbrune slowly became a ceremonial weapon rather than actual combat use, but some war Calbrunes variants are known to be used in certain Oscdean combat units.
