Washington E.R.}}The Parliament of the Novanite Federation, or as it is known as the '''Novanite Parliament''' or simply the Federal Parliament, is the highest legislative authority within the Novanite Federation. The Parliament and the composition of the parliament is established in Article III of the [[Novanite Constitution]], which states "legislative authority shall be vested in a federal Parliament".

Members of the Novanite Parliament (MNPs) are elected for terms of 6 months and there are 12 MNPs per province (plus the [[Washington E.R.|Capital District]]). This makes a total of 84 members in Parliament who vote on legislation, policies, appointment confirmations, etc.

The presiding officer of the Novanite Parliament is the Speaker of the Parliament, who is elected by the members of the Novanite Parliament at the beginning of every term or following a vacancy. The first and current speaker is [[Benjamin Mamut]], Green Party MNP for Novenae.

== Composition ==
There are as many as 28 parties in Parliament and so, in order to avoid a political mess, they have organised themselves into 6 political alliances. These alliances are;
* The Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (PASD)
* The Alliance of Conservatives and Reformists (ACR)
* The Middle Democratic Alliance (MDA)
* The People's Alliance (NPA)
* The Social Order Alliance of Communists and Socialists (SACS)
* The Green-Free Alliance (GFA)
The leader of the largest alliance in Parliament (currently the PASD) becomes the Leader of the Federal Parliament and has authority of appointments and amendment choosing, alongside the Speaker (who is elected independently).
