During his term as Secretary of State, Jakarta was of the Lorikeet Progressive Party. However, following his term in office as an activist for Lorikeet independence, he has switched his party label to Liberal Conservative (LibCon). Jakarta is often referred to as the father of the Lorikeet independence movement.

Jakarta was elected Secretary of State in December 3016, succeeding Hurteo Paeso. His government was one of progressive values and his tenure solidified Lorikeet's reputation as the "Jewel of the South". His policies invited new commerce and markets into the city while also supporting the nation's ethos of a social safety-net and a strong welfare state. In addition, Jakarta's government was the first to form alliances with non-Dakoan states, like neighboring [[Wiltshire]].

Jakarta retired from politics in 3018 to pursue a career as an author. His successor as Secretary of State, Sandiaga Salahuddin, made the decision for Lorikeetian membership of the [[United Cities of Greater Bonitana|UCGB]], and later the [[Eastern Federal Republic]] - decisions Jakarta vocally opposed. Jakarta's career as an author quickly spiraled into a career of activism, leading marches and protests in favour of Lorikeetian independence. He lobbied for an independence referendum during the country's tenure as a Federal Subject of the EFR with little success. Despite this failure to obtain a referendum, Jakarta resumed his position as a household name within Lorikeet and a political force many within the EFR government of Wim Kleiboer feared.

In early 3019, with the UCGB independence from the Eastern Federal Republic, Lorikeet continued to be ruled by a foreign force - in the eyes of Jakarta. He continued to lobby for Lorikeetian independence. However, the Tiger regime of the UCGB was far harsher than that of the Kleiboer government and Jakarta had even less success in this than he had done previously. In 3020, the UCGB Congress voted to join the [[New Corporate Republic]]. Jakarta, a proud and loud Dakoan, fled the country, fearing persecution from the NCR government. Jakarta currently resides in [[Marino]] and has continued his career of public pressure and has authored two books, both advocating for a free Lorikeet and the return of Dakoan rule to the country.
