	<br />		The Union Council is the representative body of the member states of the DUOD. Each member state is permitted two seats on the Union Council (one designated for their head of government and another designated to be filled at their discretion). The Union Council is the supreme decision-making body of the DUOD and has authority over most matters. In addition, the Union Council is responsible for the appointment of the Union Chief Commissioner and so have power over the work of the commission too.

The '''Democratic Union of Doggerland (DUOD)''' is a political and economic union of five member states that are located across [[Doggerland]]. With an estimated population of six million, the DUOD has developed a close alliance of political and cultural exchanges. In addition, the DUOD has a close defence alliance between all five nations. Officially formed in 3019 by the states of [[Newport]], [[Lancastria]] and [[Marino]], the DUOD was constitutionalized with the Treaty of Marino in 3021 with the political capital of the DUOD being designated as Marino. In 3020, the DUOD expanded to include [[Wiltshire]] and [[Atlas Valley|Atlas]].

The designated mission-statement of the Democratic Union, as outlined in the Treaty of Marino, was "striving towards the common betterment of our collective interest of progressing democracy, economic cooperation and defensive unilateralism". As of 3021, the Democratic Union of Doggerland has been involved in the IDO/NCR war as apart of the Allied forces.

== Organizational structure ==
The DUOD is split into two main organizational bodies;

* The Union Council and
* The Union Commission

Both are responsible for the passing of DUOD treaties, policies and memoranda. In addition, most decisions require the approval of both the Union Council and the Union Commission, though the Union Council holds supremacy over the Union Commission.
