She was a close confidant and lady-in-waiting to [[Elizabeth, Queen Consort\|Queen Elizabeth]] before her death, and is currently Mistress of the Robes to the Holy Roman Empress Rose, as the most senior lady of the court. Her presence has been a vital comfort to the Queen throughout her current health episodes, with Carlota taking the reins of court management.

Carlota has often been admired as a ‘great beauty’ within the court, and is rumoured to have served as the muse of both ballads and poetry, despite her reserved and pious nature.
